New aches and pains

The back pain is gone and I feel 100% again, so these are good aches and pains for a change.  They are the result of working hard in my Hydro class last night.  :)

I love it when I feel the tightness in my muscles all day.  Just a tad sore, not painful or uncomfortable, but enough to let me know I did some good, ya know?

Saturday we had no instructor show up at all, and our class took it upon ourselves to do self-led Hydro anyway.  That was kinda fun for once and I’m glad we didn’t just walk out, but I missed having the music and the peppy instructor to keep me motivated.  Monday we had a substitute instructor who was very nice, but all too B.O.R.I.N.G.  I feel bad saying that, but class was too easy and just uninteresting.  Still, I did it.  Wednesday we had a different sub, and she was AWESOME.   I had a lot of fun with her!  Next time my regular instructor will be back and she’s a lot of fun too… yay!

I now have friends coming into town for the weekend, a little work on Saturday morning, and superbowl snacks to contend with.  I’m making plans to try and have some healthy FUN this weekend, without getting off track.  Target has coupons on their website for $1.50 off Jennie-O Ground turkey, $1 off broccoli/cauliflower/celery, and $1 off Dole bagged salads.  Check them out - it makes eating healthy a bargain.   (Some of the Dole salads are priced at 99-cents or $1.19, so that makes them free or nearly free!)

Happy Thursday everyone… Friday is almost upon us!

Back is healed, and I’m actually losing again

From my last weigh in 12/10 (yikes!) to Saturday’s weigh in 1/26, I lost 2 lbs.  Pretty pathetic, I know, but at least it did go DOWN.   I had to contend with holidays, a nasty cold, a minor back injury, a bigger back injury, work crises and major stress, gym closed for remodeling, … but at last I’m back!  I’m proud of me for not giving up… if ever there was a time to do so, that was it.  *pats self on back*

Over that time, I did not really get to do cardio or go to Hydro more than a couple of times.  I was on muscle relaxers for my back for a while.  But now, I’m back.  I’m going to Hydro, and I’m doing my cardio.  My endurance is not quite where it was, it is amazing how quickly it drops.  But I’m rebuilding it.

My eating habits got a little off track with holiday parties and such too, but that is back in order as well.  It’s time to kick some serious butt now.  I’m hoping my body will start dropping lbs easily after being away from the proper exercise and meals for a while.  *crossing fingers for Saturday*

How to overcome a back injury?

I haven’t been on here in ages.  I’m so frustrated.  I want … REALLY REALLY WANT… to be back on track, but life is not cooperating.  December was HORRIBLE.  I was busy - parties and get togethers everywhere.  I also suffered through a terrible cold.  Finally kicked that, and somehow I managed to hurt my back.

I haven’t been to the gym in 3 or 4 weeks.  I’m getting back on track with my diet, but I really NEED to exercise again.  Unfortunately, I can barely drag myself out of bed in the morning in tears.  It gets better later in the day, but I’m afraid of hurting it worse.  I’ve given it lots of time to heal, but I’m really missing my cardio and scared of how much “backwards progress” I’ve made.

I’ve tried everything I can think of - resting it, stretching it, hot tub, back rubs from hubby, giving it time.  I’ve even burned out a heating pad trying that at night.  I don’t know what more to do - my patience is wearing thin.  I don’t even know what I did really, except sleep on a bed at my parent’s house that is very firm and uncomfortable.  (I’m used to my pillow top).  That’s when it started… but I should be able to GET OVER that.  ???

Grrr.  Please send me back-healing vibes so I can get back to it.
